my live e.p "last days on the lawn" is now available for free download and the hard copy for a modest $ 2.00 (to cover shipping) here on my site or on myspace.

this live set was recorded at usul on may 31st of this year and contains live versions of some songs from the "drifter" and "deserter" records.

my two new solo albums, "grounded" and "last days on the lawn" have been completed and should be available sometime next week.

"grounded" is a more traditional blues record, but not in the "traditional" sense. i only use the word "traditional" because everything else i've been doing is pretty much non-traditional. as my friend eric said of it, "is sounds like it was recorded in the 60's". that is exactly what i was going for and i hope that it reminds some of albert alyer, joe henderson, and sonny rollins...while still sounding like me.

"last days" is a live record recorded at usul in mansfield, oh. the set was dedicated to my grandfather who passed away recently, so now the record is in memory of him. "last days" contains live versions of some of my already released songs, but also contains the unreleased, "concrete is nothing".

i'll let you all know when both these records are available.

i am in the midst of creating some new music for my grandfather. he is very sick and it is unknown how much time he has left here, days perhaps. while it won't be done in time most likely, this album is going to be him.
while only consisting of only a few tracks (3 or 4), 'last days on the lawn' should be completed in a few weeks and will be an inexpensive release and free on my site. i'll keep you posted...

it's official...

i've decided to release "grounded", my kind of unofficial blues record. the stumbling block with this record is that it is so different than my previous recordings. not different in a bad way mind you, but rather seemingly unlike me. upon listening to it again today and considering that maybe some more "traditional" listeners may like it (in addition to all of you that already listen, of course) i've decided to release it after all. look for it in the next month or so and i'll be sure to get it up on here sometime in the near future.

my third, and (in my opinion) most refined solo album, "an island" has been finalized for release on reverb worship records!
i am quite excited about the opportunity afforded me and want to thank roger linney for hearing something worth pursuing in my music. having someone else pursue my music is something that doesn't happen very often, so it makes this deal all the more sweeter.
keep an eye out for the release date for this record, and thank you all so much!

the art damage soundtrack was a great experience for me. not only was i allowed (by john rich) to partake in a fantastic evening of improvised music, but was exposed for the first time to experimental films. never really pursued experimental movies before, but the ones i provided the improvised soundtrack to were extremely beautiful. thanks to john for allowing me to participate! i hope to do more of these in the future...

also, i'm now listed on the very appropriately titled www.weirdmusic.net. great site for unusual music...you can also find this site in my links section...

i have just posted two new songs from my upcoming release "an island" on reverb worship. the album was just completed yesterday and i am very pleased with how it turned out. so far i believe this is my best solo effort to date.

on the other front, my completely different blues album "grounded" is completed and should be out in a couple of weeks.

so far in 2008 i am very pleased with how things have gone musically. between my first two solo albums and reuniting with eric barnett i have been truly blessed and with any luck things will continue to evolve as time passes. thank you all so much for listening...

decided today that my next release will be a blues record, with some tracks echoing the "traditional" blues and some not. some new songs include a lyrical blues to my friend eric and the more or less "traditional" opening and closing blues, "grounded" more information on this album will be posted later as I move toward completion...

i am currently in talks with reverb worship, a u.k. label that specializes in limited edition releases. today i'm going to begin working on a new e.p and solo disc for release in the u.k. i'm extremely excited about this opportunity and will post more news as it becomes available.

guitarist eric barnett and i have just completed our first collaboration together. "beauty bent, not broken" was recorded in a 24 hour period on sunday june 1st. though recorded in such a short time, we are ecstatic at the outcome! it was great creating music with eric and the result was a truly beautiful record. out of all the music I've ever played and recorded nothing even comes close to this recording and I feel truly blessed to have been able to take part in it. playing music with eric truly felt like home, and there will be much more music coming in the future. i will post more info on this upcoming record when it's available...

"deserter", my second and sort of sequel record to "drifter" has been completed today! i've worked non stop over the last couple weeks and i'm just waiting on the album art from eric. i was able to complete it very quickly because all of the songs were already written and all that remained was recording...i will post it when it's available...and there will be a special deal...more on that later. i am very excited about both these records...

a couple of weeks ago i started work on "deserter", my second solo record and a sort of intended sequel to "drifter". i have most of the intended ten tracks completed, and i hope to release it by early summer/late spring. my good friend eric barnett will again be designing the cover, and i will continue to post updates as the record continues to evolve.
