my name is matt baumann...

and this music is about solitude; personal, desolate solitude. my favorite musicians always were, and continue to be those unafraid to confront themselves...solo.

the music i play is heavily influenced by great open spaces, places of desolation, deserts, sky, wind-swept plains, and anything and everywhere empty, yet full of life.

to achieve my feelings and longing associated with those places, i use a more broad, open kind of sound, with modern saxophone techniques like key clicks, breath effects, 1/4 tones, and multiphonics to help create distance and echoes in the music.

i have released eight albums to date and all are available under the "albums" tab should the mood strike you...there is even a free release in there.
